RIDERSHIP ON NORTH COUNTY TRANSPORTER BUS SERVICE GROWS FASTER THAN EXPECTED

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — North County TRANSporter’s new midday bus service from the Antelope Valley to Santa Clarita is now serving nearly 700 passengers a week, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

“By adding a vital link in our transportation system, our Antelope Valley residents now have a new midday travel option,” said Supervisor Antonovich who initiated the new service in response to numerous requests from valley residents.  “In just two months of operation, we are seeing very successful results with substantial growth in ridership.”

Operated by the Antelope Valley Transportation Authority, the TRANSporter’s schedule includes eight trips each weekday between the Palmdale Transportation Center and the Newhall Metrolink Station coordinated with the arrival and departure of Metrolink trains.

A one-way trip costs just $4.00 and a valid Metrolink ticket is accepted in lieu of cash fare. Northbound passengers may request a stop in Acton.
